MCCA announces new transportation program

The newly created Boston Convention Transportation Service (BCTS) is a unique "first" that gives meeting planners flexibility and choices on all transportation associated with an event. It's an invaluable service provided by the MCCA to help meeting planners develop a fully integrated transportation plan to get attendees around Boston.

No other city offers a similar transportation management solution directly through its convention centers. And nowhere else is there a one-stop service completely managed by the host city. In fact, when you work with BCTS you have a partner with more than 70 years combined experience in transportation management for conventions, trade shows and corporate meetings. As a result, you'll be able to rely on an outstanding team -- uniquely equipped to analyze, prepare and implement a successful transportation plan.

Our vast experience and knowledge of the local environment enables us to offer solutions that help you control costs as well as stress levels. And our real-time communication and management capabilities give us the flexibility to tweak any transportation plan at a moment's notice.

To simplify matters we'll coordinate everything through one point of contact -- your MCCA Event Manager -- who will provide you with the kind of service that has helped make Boston an award-winning convention city.

"We have an excellent transportation system in the city of Boston," says James E. Rooney, Executive Director of the MCCA, "and we saw the potential for partnering with the city's transportation services to set new standards and provide our customers with exceptional service at a reasonable cost."

The BCTS has already helped a number of groups at the BCEC. And we're pleased to report that Boston's newest transportation program has been a success right from the start.

BCTS drives success for meeting planners

Here are some of the things BCTS will do to ensure that your transportation plan is a success:

- Take part in all "PreCon" meetings with show management, participating hotels, the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority

- Provide pre-event coordination with hotel general managers, front desk and customer services agents

- Provide transportation agents to assist attendees with transportation at the convention centers and at hotel pick-up and drop-off points

- Staff your event with Guest Service Associates to provide your attendees with real-time transportation updates and event details

- Maintain efficient taxi stand operations

- Synchronize your transportation plan with city and state transportation agencies including the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, MassPort, and the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority/Massachusetts Highway Department
